At the end of this month, a group from the Dallas County Community College District will travel to Orlando, Fla., to compete for a 2017 Bellwether Award.
The Bellwether Awards recognizes innovative community college programs and practices. Each year, finalists are invited to join the Bellwether College Consortium. Finalists are selected “based upon how well the program addresses” the conference’s theme, an identified critical issue and the published criteria.
Representatives from the DCCCD will present After the Pipeline: Promotions for Incumbent Workers on Jan. 30 to a panel of judges. The presentation is about the DCCCD’s Accelerated Supervisor Certificate Program, which was developed by the LeCroy Center with Cedar Valledy College and North Lake College.
The Supervisor Certificate Program was named one of 10 finalists in the Workforce category last fall. The field of nominations had more than 200 applications.
The program began with its pilot stages last summer with 25 Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) employees.
The winners for each category will be announced Jan. 31 during the Award Announcement Luncheon in Orlando.
